Join the PASIS as we host Jennifer Fisher OTR, who will be presenting a webinar series on menopause. The first of the series will focus on the basics of menopause and how it holistically affects all body systems. She will talk about how hormones impact the foundations of health and the integrative role they play in the overall aging process. She will present information on how hormone imbalances affect overall health and wellness and the potential impacts on your clients’ occupational performance.

Learning objectives:

At the end of this session, you will be able to:

1) Identify how menopause holistically affects the whole person’s occupational

performance

2) Identify the important role of foundational health strategies within daily habits

to include nutrition/hydration, exercise/movement, sleep and stress

management starting at a young age for optimized productive aging

3) Understand the impact menopause can have on mental health

4) Understand the impact menopause can have on cognitive health and the

unique differences of the female brain

5) Understand the impact menopause can have on social relationships and

identity shifts in midlife

From Clinician to Educator: Navigating the Transition into Academia (Tuesday, September 01, 2026)

Have you ever considered teaching but weren't sure where to start? Join us for a 2-hour continuing education event on September 1st, 2026 from 7-9pm EST designed for occupational therapy clinicians who are interested in exploring a career in academia.

This interactive session will provide practical guidance on making the transition from clinician to educator. We'll discuss how to prepare for faculty interviews, what the application process typically looks like, what hiring committees are looking for, and what to expect during your first years in an academic role. Participants will also gain an overview of the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE®) Standards related to faculty qualifications and program expectations, helping demystify the accreditation requirements that shape occupational therapy education. Throughout the session, we'll share lessons learned, challenges we've encountered, and strategies that helped us successfully navigate the transition.

Presented by Amanda Luper, MOT, OTR, CBIS, Program Director of the Occupational Therapy Assistant Program at Marian University, and Jess Litrell, OTD, OTR, BCP, CAS, Academic Fieldwork Coordinator at Ivy Tech OTA Program, this session offers the unique perspective of two clinicians who have each transitioned into academia within the past two years. Whether you're simply curious about teaching or actively considering a faculty position, you'll leave with practical insights, a better understanding of the academic landscape, and actionable steps to begin your own journey from clinician to educator.

CYSIS Virtual Event

September 14, 2025 from 7:30-8:30 pm EST

Cost: Free to IOTA members, $10 for non-members

IOTA CEUs = 1

This event will provide time for networking and mentoring with other pediatric OT practitioners. Breakout rooms will be created for school-based practice, early intervention, and hospital/clinic based practice so that practitioners may have discussions with peers who share their practice area. Discussion questions will be provided and responses will be collected. The CYSIS co-chairs are interested to learn how IOTA can best serve Indiana occupational therapy practitioners serving children and youth.

At the end of this presentation participants will be able to:

Describe the current strengths and areas for growth for OT for children and youth in Indiana.
Identify at least one strategy for improving or enhancing OT practice for children and youth in Indiana.
