Entry-level doctoral occupational therapy students are required to complete the

doctoral capstone prior to graduation, but what is the doctoral capstone? Ryan

Smith, OTS, a doctoral occupational therapy student from the University of

Indianapolis, will elaborate on what the doctoral capstone entails, the differences

of the doctoral capstone experience (DCE) and the doctoral capstone project,

and the subcomponents of the DCE and doctoral capstone project. This

presentation is intended for occupational therapy students and practitioners who

want to learn more about what the doctoral capstone encompasses and the

benefits of a doctoral capstone project.

Learning Objectives:

After this event, participants will be able to:

1. Define the doctoral capstone and its importance for entry-level doctoral

occupational therapy students.

2. Identify at-least two focus areas related to the doctoral capstone.

3. Explain the difference between the DCE and doctoral capstone project.
